Eloping in the Canadian Rockies gives couples the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of their normal lives and focus on celebrating the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in their lives. Banff National Park offers you the chance to relax, adventure and enjoy your time together surrounded by the majesty of soaring peaks, crystal blue waters and countless natural wonders. At Elope in Banff (EIB), there’s nothing we love more than helping lovebirds celebrate their love story, and we’re proud to help you plan your dream, intimate rocky mountain elopement in Banff, Canmore, and Lake Louise.

Whether you’re an Alberta local looking to say “I do!” in the Rockies or travelling from across Canada (or worldwide!) for your nuptials, there are endless ways to enjoy your stay in Banff when getting married.

For your convenience, we’ve compiled a short guide of options for couples visiting Banff for their elopement. Whether you’re in town for a wedding week, weekend, or even a longer stay (who doesn’t love a built-in honeymoon destination!), below are just a few of the many ways you can make the most of your nuptial getaway. Read on to learn more!

Arrival

When you arrive in Banff and how long you stay is completely up to you! While many couples opt to take advantage of their trip to Banff and extend their stay, the laidback nature of an elopement makes it easy to facilitate a quick weekend getaway if you prefer.

Regardless of how long you plan to stay, we recommend giving yourself enough time to arrive without feeling rushed, settle into your accommodations, and settle down. Enjoy a romantic dinner at one of Banff’s many scenic restaurants, take a dip in the Banff Upper Hot Springs, and toast to your upcoming wedding in style.

Pre-wedding Downtime

Many couples opt to arrive a few days in advance of their elopement to allow for extra time for R&R. While at least one day (or a portion of) of your pre-wedding time will be allocated to a walkthrough with your personal EIB coordinator (more on that in a moment), if you’ve arrived early, there are endless ways for you and your guests to enjoy Banff ahead of your ceremony. Couples can enjoy a hike on one of the many trails in the region, go on a whitewater rafting adventure during the summer months, take a ride on the famous Banff Gondola, treat themselves to a cocktail class at the Banff Springs Hotel, or unwind and pamper themselves at one of the many luxury spas in the area.

No matter what your preferred relaxing method is, Banff has something for everyone!

The Day Before

The day before your wedding is full of excitement (and maybe a few butterflies)! The EIB team is here to help you get ready with peace of mind and will meet with the wedding couple to help you prepare the final details ahead of your special day. Your personal coordinator will meet you at your hotel and take you to your venue to view your ceremony site, discuss photography locations, and sign important documents at the registry prior to the ceremony. Couples can expect this process to take a few short hours, leaving you with plenty of time to relax and prepare for your (little) big day!

Wedding Day

Today’s the day you’ve been waiting for – your elopement ceremony! Whether you’ve chosen to exchange vows in a scenic outdoor location or an indoor venue (or let your love soar to new heights atop a mountain peak!), your onsite day coordinator will be there to guide you every step of the way. We’ll capture every moment from getting ready to first looks and, of course, your beautiful ceremony with our expert photographers, and will be there to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Today is all about you, your love story, and jumping into a new adventure full of joy and excitement together. After your ceremony, enjoy an intimate meal with your guests at a pre-booked location in Banff and share a toast to your new status as a married couple!

Post-Wedding Adventures

For those who opt to stay in town for a few days post-wedding as a “mini-moon”, now is your chance to explore and celebrate with bucket list items that you’ve always desired in honour of making such a deep commitment to one another. Try something new together, like horseback riding, a Lake Minnewanka River Cruise, a helicopter flight over the Bow Valley Region, a luxury fine dining experience and more!
